Jim Burton Order of Newfoundland and Labrador

Jim Burton has been successfully selling Real Estate in St. John’s for 4 decades. He obtained his “FRI”, Fellow of the Real Estate Institute in 1996 from The Real Estate Institute of Canada. He is founder of “Team Burton” in 1998. Jim is the owner of RE/MAX Infinity Inc., with offices in St. John’s, Paradise & CBS. Infinity Realty has over 60 real estate agents and is one of Provinces top producing & fastest growing Real Estate companies.

Jim is founder & President of “Black Dog Developments, LP.” a developer of Jonathan Park, a 220 lot residential subdivision in Paradise, NL.

Jim holds an Airline Transport Pilots License (50 years flying) with 16,000 flight hours and during the summer you’ll probably find him flying a floatplane in Labrador. He’s the past owner / operator of Igloo Lake Lodge & Flowers River Lodge, two premier fly fishing destinations in remote Labrador.

In March 2025, Jim was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Foundation for the Conservation of Atlantic Salmon. Also in March 2025, he was presented the King Charles III Coronation Medal from Labrador MP, Yvonne Jones. In January 2025, Jim was bestowed RE/MAX Canada’s 2024 Special Services Award celebrating dedication, leadership & significant contributions to the real estate industry and the RE/MAX brand. Jim was the (2023-2024) President of the Rotary Club of St. John’s Northwest. In November 2021, Jim was appointed to the Advisory Council for the Order of Newfoundland and Labrador. Jim is also a Director & Co-Founder of Aviation History Newfoundland & Labrador Inc. In February 2021, Jim was presented the Canadian 2020 “Community Care Award” from RE/MAX. In January 2020, Her Honour The Honourable Judy May Foote, presented Jim with the “Order of Newfoundland and Labrador.” The Order of Newfoundland and Labrador is the highest honour of the province. Jim is past Chair Liberal Party of Canada PTB NL & a past National Chair of the Board of Director’s of Hope Air. In November 2018, The Speaker of the Senate of Canada, the Honourable George J. Furey. K.C, presented Jim with the 150th Anniversary Medal which celebrates the achievements of Canadians who have made significant contributions to their community and commemorates the 150th anniversary of the first sitting of the Senate of Canada on November 06, 1867. In 2018, the Real Estate Institute of Canada presented Jim the Canadian “National Community Services Award.” In 2015, Jim was bestowed the 2015 Humanitarian Award from the Canadian Red Cross – Newfoundland and Labrador.

Jim is also past member of the Board of Director’s of the “Rotary Club of St. John’s Northwest”, a past member of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation (Atlantic Canada), a past member of the Board of Directors of the Newfoundland & Labrador Brain Injury Association, past Chairperson of the Canadian Cancer Society – NL “Dream Team” Relay for Life. Jim is also a past fundraising committee member for the new YMCA Building in St. John’s. He’s also past Honorary Chairperson of Newfoundland & Labrador Volunteer Week 2010 and a past Chairperson of the CHBA Home Show 2009, 2008 and 2007. Jim is a past Director of the Janeway Children’s Hospital Foundation. He was the Chairperson of the Liberal Party Leaders Dinner on May 12, 2014 in St. John’s, where some 530 supporters gathered. His past community contributions are many, and include Judge at the Annapolis Valley Apple Blossom Pageant 2008, past & current Chairperson for the St. John’s Northwest Rotary Club Gala Dinner & Auction, co–chairperson of the “2006 RE/MAX Concert for the Cure” in aid of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, past Chairperson of the Cowan Heights United Church Board of Management and Past President of the Cowan Heights United Church Men’s Club. He is also a past Director of the St. John’s Real Estate Board and a previous Director of the Canadian Home Builders’ Association –Eastern Newfoundland and the St. John’s Board of Trade.
